DESCRIPTION

Engineers and designers working for the subsidiary company that made Companion Droids had noticed that owners would readily talk to their droid, whether a cat of dog model on a regular basis. In addition Dr Vince Chatterick had noticed that owners would interact far more with their artificial pets if they were anxious, which led him to design the Therapy Droid. These would be a passive listening droid capable of processing what they were told and then providing basic practical feedback that is completely empathetic.

Essentially their main role was to listen and help a person find their own answers to problems. As they were not human they would never be accused of judging and would be always there in the hour of need. Therapy Droids were of use in a huge variety of setting from private homes to hospitals, youth clubs to old people’s homes, educational settings to work places.

As Therapy Droids became more popular their design became more refined. They were fitted with a reactive eye units which enabled them to simulate empathetic emotional responses with pupil dilation.
